Open Volunteer Service Positions

These volunteer positions require a one-time service of 2-5 hours on dates convenient to you. Concert dates are listed on the Volunteer Information Form.

Poster Distributors – several required 7-10 days prior to each concert weekend.




Box Office Assistants - three required for each LSO concert performance; two needed for Chamber concerts.



Ushers – four required for each LSO concert performance; two needed for Chamber concerts.



Music Courier – required 10 weeks before and also shortly after each concert.


Office Assistants – several required.

Duties:  Put up concert flyers; lists of locations provided

Requirements:  Availability during weekday business hours or free to make repeat trips during week if manager not present on the weekend; conservative dress, comfortable and patient when approaching store managers for permission to put up flyers – you are the symphony’s public face!

Time required: 3 hours


Duties: calculate ticket purchase price; collect funds; fill out credit card slips if necessary; hand out purchased tickets and free student tickets.

Requirements:  Adult position.

Time required:  2 hours per concert


Duties: tear ticket stubs; hand out playbills; escort attendees to their seat if requested; monitor and assist late arrivals.

Requirements:  high school or older, no jeans or T-shirts.

Time required: 2 hours per concert


Duties:  pick music up from and return music to DC Public Library.

Time required: 4 hours per concert.


Duties:  stuff and label envelopes for mailings, data entry, prepare story board for symphony; other office tasks.

Time required:  variable, will be called when work available or you call us when you are available.
