The Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra has had a highly successful and fun 2014-2015 season! Come join us for our last concert of this season. This is a free event:

Participation in LSYO is by audition. Audition registration is now open for the 2015-2016 season. Live auditions will be held on May 16 and May 23, 2015, video submissions will also be accepted. Go to the Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra’s website for further audition and registration information. All members are re-auditioned annually. A registration fee of $25 is required in order to audition. You can also go directly to Eventbrite to register!
The Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra (LSYO) provides performing opportunities for middle school and high school students who have at least three years of experience with a private teacher or in school music programs.
The season starts in September and goes through May. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. They include professionally directed sectionals, a master class, and a concerto competition. There are three concerts per season which are scheduled in late August.
Rehearsals and concerts generally take place at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn. Many thanks to Stone Bridge staff, Fine Arts faculty, and especially Band Director Dr. Keller!
Tuition is $400 for the full year. Some scholarships are available on a need basis.
LSYO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
- prepare Excerpts (Excerpts are now posted for May auditions — click here)
- Scales must be memorized up to 4 flats and 4 sharps in Major scales. Strings play in 3 octaves. Woodwinds and Brass play chromatic scales in 16th notes, slur going up, tongued coming down.
- percussion auditions will be arranged separately due to availability of the instruments.
