Loudoun’s Got Talent Offical Rules

This competition consists of a preliminary audition where ten finalists will be selected who will then compete in a live performance at Franklin Park Arts Center for first, second and third place prizes. The 2012 dates are: Auditions – May 5 at Stonebridge HS, Finals – May 27, 2012  at Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville.

The purpose of the Loudoun’s Youth Got Talent Contest is to discover, encourage and celebrate excellence in the arts in the high school age youth of Loudoun County.

 

Eligibility:

1. This competition is open only to those who reside in or attend school in Loudoun County Virginia.

2. Contestants must be at least 14 years old and no older than 18 at the date of the finals.

3. Professionals are NOT permitted to compete. For the purpose of this competition, you are considered to be a professional if you have made more than $5,000 as a performer in the 12 months preceding the date of the preliminary auditions.

4. All contestants must submit a signed consent form from their parent or legal guardian.

 

Audition Rules:

1. This competition is for individual performers (1 person). No ensembles are allowed. A piano accompanist is allowed for selections normally performed with accompaniment. The accompanist does not have to meet the age and residency requirements of the performers.

2. Each contestant must complete the advance registration form and pay the application fee by the registration deadline to be eligible to compete. No performers will be allowed to register on the day of the auditions.

3. Select your repertoire carefully. The same musical selection must be used for both the preliminary audition and the finals.

4. Each performance is limited to five (5) minutes. Performances running longer than five minutes may be disqualified. Set up time is not included in the performance length and is limited to one (1) minute.

5. Contestants must furnish all equipment needed for their performance. Pianos will be provided for accompaniment. Music stands will be provided.

6.  The use of pre-recorded tape or any type of electronic or computer generated accompaniment is prohibited. Live performance and accompaniment is required.

7. All contestants must appear and perform live at the preliminary audition and the finals. Recordings or videos will NOT be accepted in place of a live performance.

8. All finalists must be at the Franklin Park Performing Arts Center one (1) hour prior to their scheduled stage time and must report to the Talent Coordinator at the green room.

9. The decisions of the judging panel and Talent Coordinator are final.

10. Finalists agree to allow the use of their names, photos and/or video recordings in connection with press releases, advertising and other publicity related to the Loudoun’s Got Talent Contest and the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra.

11. Only one trophy per prize winner will be awarded. Additional trophies may be ordered and must be paid for by the prize winner or their guardians at the time they are ordered.
