ABOUT

​

The Loudoun Symphony Orchestra Association, Inc. (LSA) is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) Virginia Corporation and has been providing first-class orchestral concerts for the people of Loudoun County since 1991.

​

The Loudoun Symphony is an association dedicated to the mission of enriching our community through music. Members of the association are:

• Musicians in the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra

• Members of the Board of Directors

• Donors who contribute annually $1,000 or more

OUR PROGRAMS

​

The Loudoun Symphony Orchestra presents 5-7 orchestral concerts each season.

 

The Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra program trains the next generation of musicians through four ensembles which present three concerts each season.

 

The Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra also provides enrichment programs including a masterclass series featuring world-renowned teachers and a weeklong Summer Orchestral Institute for beginning, intermediate and advanced young musicians.

MAJOR MILESTONES

​

• 1991 – Loudoun Community Orchestra was established

• 1994 – Organization was incorporated and orchestra was renamed Loudoun Symphony Orchestra (LSO)

• 2001 – Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra (LSYO) was established.

• 2016 – The Loudoun Symphony Orchestra's longtime conductor, Mark Allen McCoy died suddenly and the Loudoun Symphony board and musicians began process of reimagining the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra.

• 2017 – Established a second youth orchestra.

• 2018 - Appointed Dr. Nancia DAlimonte to serve as music director of the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra.

• 2019 – Established a third youth orchestra.

• 2020 – Appointed Dr. Hayden Denesha music director of Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra program. Safely continued in-person rehearsals for youth and shared virtual performances throughout pandemic. Created Masterclass program featuring notable clinicians.

• 2021 – Launched Summer Orchestral Institute for intermediate and advanced young musicians. Created Sidenotes, a virtual concert hall featuring professional musicians as well as students.

• 2023 - Appointed Kim Allen Kluge, Music Director of the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. Established fourth LSYO ensemble, Prelude Strings.
